The stem of most German verbs is obtained by dropping the en from the verb as found in vocabulary lists; thus, in the case of bleiben, the stem is bleib. To the stem are added the personal endings e, st, t, en, t, en. This is true of most verbs |

It is important to note that, while there are three present-tense forms for each person and number of most English verbs (e.g., we play, we are playing, we do play), German verbs have only one form. "We play," "we are playing," and "we do play" all mean in German simply wir spielen. It is never correct to say wir sind spielen Like: I am staying - ich bleibe she is going - sie geht they are having - sie haben Haben and sein (to have and to be) are the most frequently used verbs in the German language.
